My Mission .....
Motivate parents to advocate for their children so that opportunities, rights, and freedoms protected at the local educational level. Parents should expect school communities to practice in ways where every child is accepted and belongs.
Teach parents that we each possess the passion that fuels a mighty machine. We are more powerful than we think. Not only do we have a duty to our child, we also have an obligation to others for disseminating knowledge, tools, experiences, and information that has shown helpful.
Promote and support legislation that strengthens parental rights in public school , expands educational choices, and open opportunities for parents to implement educational decisions for their children. These changes may come in the form of new alliances and/or private sector unions.
From Melanie:
The best advice I ever received was from a fellow parent in Trophy Club, TX was... “Melanie, you are more powerful than you think you are”. She was right. With my back against the wall, and my son’s dignity and future on the line, and with the help of a handful of people, whom previously I did not know, I beat the odds on behalf of my son. A parent’s tenacity and passion , if channeled correctly, can do great things.
I have learned that the only thing that separates parents from successfully navigating the maze, is information. With the right people at your side during the ARD MEETING, your child’s odds at school success increase instantly. Let’s face it, most school districts have unlimited access to all kinds of resources, lawyers, staff and information. A qualified, professional advocate will be able to look at the child’s total education situation, determine the problem areas, which help parents find resources, and long term solutions. A professional educational advocate does not practice law, but offers parents special ed attorney referrals when they need legal advice, or representation.
If your child is struggling, you are more powerful than you think.......
